Be pro-active

We know that those who receive our e-mails are concerned pro-active citizens and like to be informed about issues facing our community, therefore we are contacting you on an issue that we feel is important for the health of our city.  All of us are aware that urban gas drilling is taking place within our communities.  The environmental effects of urban gas drilling are numerous.  One of the major issues surrounding drilling is how to dispose of the frac (brine) water generated during the drilling process.  Initially, the frac water was being injected into disposal wells.  However, due to concerns that the frac water could contaminate our groundwater, a moratorium was placed on this practice so that the city council could review the process and determine if there were other options available.  If you are concerned about the potential contamination of our groundwater by the frac water generated during the drilling process, please contact your city council representative and urge them to extend the moratorium.  We have provided a simple letter below for your convenience.  We must contact our representatives by Monday, before the city council votes on Tuesday!  If you are unsure which council district you are located in, visit:  http://www.fortworthgov.org/citycouncil/
