Come and learn about one of the most under-appreciated Galiformes, the Quail.
Fun facts about Quail:
- They mature to and lay eggs or can be harvested by 6-8 weeks.
- Their eggs are used all over the world to help support people who have immune issues or inflammatory diseases.
- They don't carry salmonella because their body temperatures are too hot for the bacteria to survive in the digestive tracks.
- They don't make loud sounds, even the roos and can be "hidden" in plain sight for communities that don't allow other poultry.
- Some live very happy and long lives in indoor habitats (not cages).
You will learn in this class:
- How quail differ from the chicken and how to keep them happy
- The best nutrition for your quail
- Five different housing setups and how to protect from predators
- How to incubate and hatch quail
- How to build a inexpensive brooder
- How to keep the peace in a quail covey
- What to have in your home veterinary kit
- Swift and human processing of your quail
- Record Keeping for best breeding practices
If you register for the class you receive Quail 101 Booklet $10 for free and 3 non-fertile, blue "Celadon" eggs.
