Origin: Bred in in United States (1930) by Somerset Rose Nursery. Introduced in United States (1930) by Henry A. Dreer.

Cultivation: Climbing growth habit.

Flower Size: Large, loosely double blooms on long stems

Scent: Sweet rose, strong fragrance

Color: Soft shell pink, yellow stamens

Flowering: Repeats summer to fall; 40 petals

Height/Spread: 10-15ft , spread 8 ft

Disease resistance: Very disease resistant

Notes: Requires winter protection if the wind chill factor is forecast to drop below 20F. Can be pruned to maintainc a shorter habit. Prune right after flowering is finished. Remove spent blooms only. This rose blooms on old wood.

The first plant to receive a patent, and still one the most popular climbing roses today. New Dawn is a repeat-blooming sport of Dr. W. Van Fleet, with semi-double to double light pink fragrant roses. Named the World's Favorite Rose by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 1997. Zones 6-9.
