Description: Descriptions such as hot with a hint
of nut flavor, tart, and spicy are used to describe Arugula. Nothing
adds such an exciting, interesting flavor and texture to salads as
this green. Most often eaten raw in salads but also steamed or added
raw to many other dishes (such as pizza!). Also a good container variety.
This packet plants (1) - 20 foot row or 5 successive plantings of 4
foot rows.
Seeding Info: Plant outside in the early spring, 3
to 4 weeks before last frost, and successive plantings thereafter every
3 weeks until 2 weeks before the first fall frost. (Skip hot party
of summer). USDA zone 8 or warmer - also fall for winter harvest.
Culture: A cool season annual.
Soil: Light textured, fertile, moist, well drained
soils.
Water: Moist but not soggy.
Exposure: Full sun.
Fertilizer: An initial fertilization of organic fertilizer
and then a light fertilization of fish emulsion or water soluble fertilizers
at 4 weeks is recommended.
Special Care: Easy to grow in cool temperatures.
Harvest Info: Ready to harvest in 30-45 days from
planting.
